Taka Higashino and Todd Potter both made it into the X Games Freestyle event as alternates and made the most of the opportunity. Potter has competed in every moto event at this X Games so far…crazy busy guy! Potter didn’t make it through the elimination round, but he rode solid with his usual smooth style, big ass tricks, and roosting it Mulisha style.

Taka was killing it! He made it through the elimination round no problem, second to Torres, and beating out Twitch and Sheehan for a spot in the finals versus Nate Adam, Adam Jones and Dany Torres. Taka was pulling his backflip 1 handed seat grab in his FMX run perfectly, along with his huge cordova flips, which are pretty much the sickest ones out of anyone in the sport. His sidesaddle take off to no footed nac/KOD indy thing was sick! Unfortunately Taka just missed getting a medal and finished in 4th. Either way, good riding Taka, congrats bud!

Check out the all the X Games FMX photos of Taka and Potter in our photo gallery, and of course the video is below. Speed & Style and Rally Racing tomorrow…

Besides being arrested, towed, ticketed, having the police and homeland security called on us, we always manage to pull it off somehow. Taka!

While waiting for the dirt to become, crypt chocolate cake after this weekend’s rain in Southern California, we sat down for an interview with the Godzilla of the Metal Mulisha Team, Taka Higashino.
note: by speaking in a Japanese voice may increase your humor.

Q: What was it like growing up where you are from?takasmall2

A: I grew up in Osaka, Japan. I started to ride at 8 years old.

So Taka, how old where you when you got into Free Style Motocross?

I first meet the Mulisha guy’s in the 2005 Osaka FMX Competition. I meet Twitch, Luke, Kinnaird, Maddo, then I figured I would take a trip to go to America in 2006. I meet Jimmy Fizpatrick, and Todd Potter who both helped me get into the Mulisha. Then I finally meet up with Twitch again. Twitch and Susan helped me out so much with so many sponsors to get my name out there, and adapting. One day I got to go ride the Mulisha Compound and after I got done riding Deegan hooked me up on the Mulisha team and it was my 22nd birthday! Such a great Birthday present!

If you were to fight Godzilla what are 5 ways you can defeat him?

Kick, Punch, Flying Kicking, Karate Chop, Smoke You

What 5 things would I find in your refrigerator right now?

Rockstar, Water, Orange Juice, Vegetable, Milk, Japanese Food

So what are 5 things you do back home? 6Z2O0624

If you missed the Chaparral Motorsports autograph signing last week then you missed out big! The stormy California weather did not stop any of these Metal Mulisha fans to get some autographs and meet Brian Deegan, Taka, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Nixey Danielson, Derek Garland, Wes Agee and other riders. We gave Josh Hansen, ex-Mulisha rider a good laugh with our new poster featuring a huge red X over his face in the team photo!

mulishatripThe Metal Mulisha geared up late and headed out on a road trip to ride Daniel Sani’s Ranch outside of Clovis, CA a couple weeks back. We showed up and experienced perfect chocolate cake dirt, fresh air and green rolling hills with weather conditions that couldn’t get any better. The whole crew pitched in to rebuild Sani’s Supercross track and also put together a sick freestyle park.

Twitch

Faisst, Taka, Hagy, Nicky, and Garland where throwing down some insane tricks while Fitzpatrick and Twitch were going huge on backflips! After tearing up Sani’s propriety we headed back to the compound to get ready for the next trip.
