Day 2 in Primm – Deegan gets 2nd place for the day, but ends up winning the Unlimited Lites Championship later in the day after the other guy was disqualified.
Congrats to Brian Deegan! Deegan won the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Unlimited Lites Championship yesterday in Primm, Nevada.
In his first full year racing trucks, and his first year as team owner of the Metal Mulisha/Rockstar/Lucas Oil/etnies Unlimited Lites team, Deegan defied all expectations, including his own, to pull off the unthinkable and beat the best of the best in off road racing for the Unlimited Lites Championship!
Coming into the final 2 races, Deegan trailed Chris Brandt by 9 points. Deegan won the race on Saturday and cut the deficit to 6 points. Deegan would have to win Sunday’s race and Brandt would have to finish 4th or worse. Unfortunately Deegan finished in 2nd while Brant was behind him in 3rd…which meant Brant won the championship points race.
But wait, it’s not over yet! After big races they usually pull the top trucks to the side for a tech inspection to make sure the top trucks are built to spec within the rule book. Upon closer inspection they found that Chris Brandt’s truck was too wide, so he was DQ’d from the race, giving Deegan enough points for the Championship win!
“I would’ve liked to win the championship by battling it out on the track. I came to race a professional series that followed the rules they put in place and I think the officials and Lucas Oil made a statement this weekend. In the end I’m stoked to win the championship. For me this win wasn’t about this moment, it was about every race this year; the team, friends, family and everyone who helped me win the championship. In the end, it feels good win the championship!” -Brian Deegan
The final round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is this weekend in Primm, NV. Brian Deegan is racing in the Unlimited Lites class and sits in 2nd place overall, only 9 points behind 1st place for the Championship! It all comes down to this weekend, 2 days and 2 races to go, and we’ll see if Deegan can pull off his first off road championship. Cruise out and support the General!
The other weekend Brian Deegan landed himself and his Rockstar/Metal Mulisha Unlimited Light truck on top of the podium in his hunt for the Lucas Oil Off Road Championship. On Saturday he placed 1st with teammate Todd Cuffaro in 2nd! On Sunday he backed it up with a 2nd place finish, again followed by teammate Todd Cuffaro in 3rd! That’s 4 podiums in 1 weekend for Deegan’s team! Congrats to Deegan, Todd and the whole Rockstar/Metal Mulisha off road team!
The 1st and 2nd place finish moved Deegan into 2nd place in the overall point standings and just 9 points back from the leader. There are only 2 races to go in the season and the General is right there in the hunt…November 14-15…Primm, NV…it’s on!
Check out Brian Deegan racing the TORC Off Road Series this weekend in Las Vegas, or watch the TV coverage on November 8 from 1:30pm – 2:30pm EST on ABC.

Brian Deegan will be racing the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series this weekend in Surprise, Arizona. If you’re in the AZ get out there and support The General on his quest for the Championship!
There will be Metal Mulisha FMX demos on both days, with Ox, Fitzpatrick, Danielson and Agee doing the riding. Truck racing and FMX demos…what more could you ask for!?

The nominees have been announced for the 1st Annual TransWorld Motocross Awards presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, and it’s no surprise that there are a ton of Metal Mulisha riders on the ballot! The winners will be named October 8, 2009 at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas the day before the 2009 U.S. Open begins.
The Readers Choice Award is probably the most prestigious of the awards because it all up to you, the fans, to vote for your favorite rider of the year. It goes with out saying, but I’ll say it anyway, get over there and vote for your favorite Metal Mulisha rider!
