DIY The Mulisha Way

For our second Do It Yourself blog we thought we’d feature one of our office favorites, the one shoulder tank! This DIY tutorial is great for those maidens out there who want to turn an ordinary crew neck tee into a sexy one shoulder tank! Keep in mind that you can also do this same tutorial on one of your boyfriends t-shirts to customize it for yourself!

Supplies You’ll Need:
-1 mens or womens crew neck Metal Mulisha tee
-1 pair of scissors
-1 piece of chalk or a fabric pencil

DIY Metal Mulisha Way

Step 1: Find a crew neck tee that you would love to work with.

Step 2: Put the t-shirt on and make three marks. Two for the shoulder strap, one at the neck seam and one down the shoulder at the desired width you would like for the shoulder strap. The last mark needs to be at your under arm to wear you feel most comfortable with the new swooping neckline that your going to create.

DIY Mulisha Way

Step 3: Trace a nice curved line going from the chalk mark you made closest to your neck and follow through to the mark you made at the under arm. You don’t need to worry about doing the same line on the back of the shirt because you will be cutting both the front and back at the same time in a later step. This will provide an even cut on both sides. Trace the second line around the armhole so that you cut the whole seam of the tee from the sleeve.

Step 4: Cut below the line you traced for the neckline so that you cut the chalk markes off. Do the same for the armhole.

Step 5: Pick one side seam first and cut down along the seam from the armhole to the end of the shirt.

DIY Mulisha Style

Step 6: With the side seam cut you can then go ahead and cut all the way down the tee with two inch strips about 2” deep into the shirt to create the ties.

Step 7: Go ahead and hold the tee down while you pull on the ties you cut so they are already stretched for you.

Step 8: Tie all the ties going down the body and make sure you double knot it so not to come undone.

DIY Mulisha Style

Step 9: Try the tee on at this point to see how lose or fitted you want it. Depending on how fitted you want it you can cut the marks farther in to get the correct fit you want.

Repeat Steps 5-8 on the side with no ties

Step 10: Cut off the extra length of the ties at each side so you’re not bothered when wearing.

Step 11: A finished product!

-Sophia
