The Salt Lake course was arguably the most difficult of the year. It featured multiple double double sections and lots of dirt hits. It was also on a slope so the jumps were up and down hill. The high winds didn’t make things any easier for the guys.
Twitch looked smooth in practice, until he over jumped on a super flip, creating a minor fractures in his right ankle. He would not compete. The little ninja, Taka, was on a mission to make a strong come back after missing the portland round. In his first qualifying run, taka came up short and landed on the side of the 94 foot dirt hit. This stopped all of his momentum and sent Taka face first into the dirt. He would walk off under his own power, but was unable to return to competition.
This left the mulisha domination on the shoulders of Todd Potter and Jeremy Lusk. Potter was the first rider to go in the finals, throwing huge Kiss of Death flips (the kamikaze) and Indian Air flips. His efforts earned him an 89.67, which would only be bettered by Nate Adams. Lusk put in a solid with superman flips, indian air flips, and no handed flips. Lusk rounded out the podium, giving the Mulisha a 2, 3 finish on the day!

Well, you might as well rename the MeX Games to the Todd Potter Show! Potter killed it at X Games Mexico and earned his first ever X Gold Medal with his Kiss of Death Backflip (Kamikaze), the same trick that got him Bronze at Summer X. Twitch also kicked some ass, debuting a Backflip Indian Air to Heel Clicker for Bronze!
Potter earned a Silver medal in Step Up, clearing the 23′ mark in his first time competing in Step Up, just a little behind the winner Matt Buyten. Brian Deegan is a long-time Step Up veteran and took the Bronze medal!
Everyone was struggling with jetting because of the high elevation in Mexico City. Despite the bikes running like crap, Potter, Twitch and Deegan made due and dominated. Congrats, guys!
You can find some video interviews and photos from X Games Mexico on EXPN.com.

Nothing really cool happened at the Portland Dew Tour on the indoor, IFMA-style indoor course. The crowd was horrible and hardly cheered for anyone. Potter had bike problems in his first run of qualifying. His second run was going great ‘til he whisky throttled a bit after landing a no handed superman and grabbed too much front brake. Before he knew what happened he was on the ground and out of the finals. Lusk toughed it out after a crash during morning media that left him with some sore ribs. He qualified third and finished sixth in the finals. Twitch led the Mulisha charge, placing fifth in the finals.
