The Star Valli Yamaha Rockstar Metal Mulisha team was keeping busy at San Diego’s Qualcom Stadium for another night of Monster Energy Supercross! The team prepped the bikes, and stayed focused hoping that the 20 percent chance of rain could just possibly hold off. To kill some time, we stormed up our own pit party in the stadium parking lot all day long, giving away free team gear, stickers, food, drinks, you name it.

Nico Izzi and Garth Swanepoel geared up and moved onto the track, both looking really fast and confident for the nights race. Check out the GOPRO practice lap videos from Izzi and Swanepoel…

In the San Diego SX Lites Heat 1, Swanepoel kicked it off with a great start and powered through the whoop section while running in fourth place before Jason Anderson found his way around Swanepoel as he finished fifth.

In the SX Lites Heat 2, Izzi managed to push through the first turn pile up unscathed, while putting up a solid fight, picking others off, and placing himself into a sixth place finish!

It was time for the SX Lites Main event. Izzi and Swanepoel work their way through the pack, picking others off while Swanepoel was behind Tomac trying to make his move. Then through the whoops, Tomac’s front end dropped down, sending him over the bars and too the ground on lap eight.

Both Izzi and Swanepoel blasted their way through the first triple, down the whoop section, and finished the race with Swanepoel in fourth and Izzi in fifth! This puts Nico in the top 5 for the West Lites Championship as he will be stepping up in the 450 class next weekend in Texas. Congrats to you both for a solid weekend of racing!
