Sarah Colburn, a Metal Mulisha Maiden fan submitted her photos for the Miss January 2012 Maiden of The Month Contest. We selected Sarah as the lucky winner, hooked her up with some Maiden gear, and caught up with her for this Months Maiden interview.

When did you become a Metal Mulisha fan?
Well I knew who Metal Mulisha was before, but I really became a fan after watching them ride in person when they came to Colorado for the Journey’s BBQ tour last summer. I only got to watch one show since I had my bike in the parking lot, and wanted to ride myself!

Why are you a Metal Mulisha fan?
I am a Mulisha fan because they all represent the true attitude of what freestyle motocross stands for. One of my favorite quotes is by Brian Deegan, “It’s kinda hard to explain to the average person why we risk breaking every bone in our body, but you know what…that’s what makes our sport so bad ass”. I actually had that painted on my cast when I broke my arm!
So what kind of bike did you start riding on, and what do you ride now?
My first bike was a 2005 Honda CRF150f (it is a little tank!) It was perfect to learn on though. While learning clutching it was heavy enough I couldn’t wheelie myself off the back. Now I switch off between my 2003 Kawasaki KX which is dialed in and bored out to a KX144 (2-stroke) and I also hit the dirt on my 2010 KX250f (4-stroke).

How long have you been riding for?
I got my 150 4 years ago, but I rode it only a handful of times in those years. This past April I started a full race training program everyday and make it out riding or the tracks at least once a week.
What are some places you like to go riding?
I like to ride wherever I can! I do mostly track riding since that is what I race on and training for. We have a bunch of great tracks which are all pretty close to my house, but I also love putting in a good trail ride. I got to ride out at Ocotillo Wells during my Spring Break which was awesome. Sand whoops are a blast!

Do you have any other girls you go riding with?
I have a couple girls that I ride with, but we are definitely outnumbered at the track!
If you could have the chance to ride with any Metal Mulisha rider, who would it be and why?
Nico Izzi. I have loved watching him in Supercross west! He is so crazy fast, I would love some advice and riding tips from him! ( looking forward to a podium for him! )

What are some of your hobbies outside of the sport?
Motorcycles aren’t my only riding sport, I also ride and jump horses. A lot of the skills translate but my bike doesn’t suddenly decide it doesn’t want me on its back! I am also a full time University student. It isn’t exactly a “hobby” but is obviously a huge part of my life! I also love dance and have started taking some classes again and started yoga too!

What do you think about all of the new Maidens Spring clothing? Which are some of your favorite items?
I love all the new spring clothing, especially the shirts ( though I would love to see some super sick maidens riding gear
finding pink gear can be tough! ) My favorites are the Charmer Sunglasses, Babylon Shorts, and Uprising Shirt.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Craziest thing… now that is a tough one! I will just stick to the “dirt bikes” topic… haha. This past summer I went to a local dealership to get an idea about used 250’s. Later I ended up walking out with a brand new one. ( though ask me again after I try out the new foam pit near my house that is being built this summer! )
Do you prefer to date a guy who can ride or the guy who sits and watches you ride?
Definitely has to be a guy that rides! Days at the track/races are the best dates in my opinion. Motocross is such a huge part of my life it is great to have someone who understands the passion i feel and the will to do what it takes to get faster! Sorry boys, I am taken!

Any restraining orders or speeding tickets hahaha?
Probably should considering my love of street bikes and going 140+ on a R1, but I have been lucky so far! Haha and as far as restraining orders, the boys I pass sure don’t like me but they don’t give me too problems
Anyone you want to give a shout-out to?
I want to give a shout out to my amazing sponsors Euro Sport International LLC, Natural Moves Gone Wild and everyone in my life who supports me and my riding!
