The Race of Champions has been considered by many of today’s top racing professionals as the auto-racing Super Bowl of the year. Held in Düsseldorf, Germany; eighteen of the worlds best drivers attended the ROC with current and former series Champions battling in a wide range of vehicles against one another in a best-of-three competition.
Team USA was comprised of two of the very best action sports athletes in motorsports, Brian Deegan & Travis Pastrana! Although they didn’t take the Race Of Champions title, they battled it out and gave it one hell of a shot.
Congrats to you both for representing Team USA! Back in the states Deegan is gearing up for his final championship round this weekend in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Currently Deegan is sitting first in points in both the Pro-Lite and Pro 2 classes. You can catch up on the season highlights and get inside the action by watching the online series “Chasing The General”.

On Sunday, Metal Mulisha rider Derek Garland will take off on the Rock And Roll Marathon in Las Vegas! This 26.2 mile run will be the first for any FMX rider to take on the challenge! When Garland is off his bike, he is calculating an average of 40 miles a week.
“At first, it wasn’t so much the physical aspect as it was the mental. Thinking that I had to run 20 miles on the weekends seemed hard, but after doing it and looking back, it was more mental than anything.” – Derek Garland.
Garland had a prior commitment with life long friend and Mulisha family member Jeff Ox Kargola whose life was lost in a tragic accident earlier this year in Mexico. “I told Jeff I was going to run a marathon, so for me, it’s a way to finish something I said I was going to do. I can dedicate the marathon to him because I know he’ll be looking down and smiling on me.” We can’t wait to see the final result and good luck with your run this weekend! After Sunday’s race, Garland will be featured in the March issue of Runner’s World magazine! Congrats Garland and we wish you the best! You can check out Garland’s half marathon video update shot earlier this year by clicking here.
The long awaited road to recovery for Faisst and Wes is nearly complete! Just the other day, Faisst broke in his new Honda CRF450 and hit ramps for the first time. Faisst has been vigorously attending rehab and personal training to strengthen his leg after having surgery to remove screws from his femur.
Faisst ran through a list of his tricks, and they looked as solid as ever!
While documenting the sickest FMX footage to date at Jacko Strong’s Australian FMX Compound, Wes over jumped and hyper extended his ankle. Fortunately, nothing was broken but it did force Wes to spend time off his bike.
We spotted him practicing at Fitzland, and from the looks of it, Wes hasn’t lost a step. Look for Faisst and Wes to be 100% for the 2012 Nuclear Cowboyz Tour, starting January 13th in Baltimore, MD.
Chasing the General is back! Brian Deegan continues to take the lead, and dominate the Lucas Oil Offroad Racing Series. Check out round 13 & 14. Deegan even installed a onboard camera so you can see what it’s like to battle in the LOORRS.
