In Saturday’s Rally event, Deegan was focused and determined to get behind the wheel and take another podium spot for the Metal Mulisha. Deegan had some mechanical difficulties with the car, which only gave him a chance for 1 qualifying lap before breaking, but he still managed to get a fast time in for the main event.
Deegan’s first head-to-head match up in the Rally finals versus Keeney, Deegan got a great start off the line and was going into the first few turns with some speed! Unfortunately, he had more issues with the car and came to a stop right before the dirt jump, and knocking himself out of the Rally event. Deegan has 1 more shot and is more than ready to take on today’s Rallycross event, so check back for another update later! Check out the video below of Deegan taking on Rally!
Ronnie Faisst earned another X Games Medal tonight for himself and the Metal Mulisha team with a hard-earned Moto X Speed & Style Bronze Medal! During this year’s Nuclear Cowboyz Tour, Faisst went down really hard, slamming into an arena wall, and broke his femur. After recovering and getting ready for X Games, he re-injured his leg and even just last week he was unsure if he was going to compete. Well, Faisst is obviously a bad ass, and he battled through the pain and got the job done!
Faisst threw down some solid tricks and rode really fast for coming off an injury so soon. Faisst scored a 91.01, winning a sick battle against Hart. “Because of my injury I came in with no expectations, but stoked I was able to medal!” – Ronnie Faisst. Congrats Faisst!
Taka Higashino and Todd Potter both made it into the X Games Freestyle event as alternates and made the most of the opportunity. Potter has competed in every moto event at this X Games so far…crazy busy guy! Potter didn’t make it through the elimination round, but he rode solid with his usual smooth style, big ass tricks, and roosting it Mulisha style.
Taka was killing it! He made it through the elimination round no problem, second to Torres, and beating out Twitch and Sheehan for a spot in the finals versus Nate Adam, Adam Jones and Dany Torres. Taka was pulling his backflip 1 handed seat grab in his FMX run perfectly, along with his huge cordova flips, which are pretty much the sickest ones out of anyone in the sport. His sidesaddle take off to no footed nac/KOD indy thing was sick! Unfortunately Taka just missed getting a medal and finished in 4th. Either way, good riding Taka, congrats bud!
Check out the all the X Games FMX photos of Taka and Potter in our photo gallery, and of course the video is below. Speed & Style and Rally Racing tomorrow…
Big congrats to Todd Potter on X Games Best Whip Silver! We think he shoulda had the hat trick with his 3rd year of Gold in a row, but I guess you can’t win ‘em all. The competition was solid this year for sure. Potter’s whips were massive and smooth as hell as usual. Check out the X Games 17 Best Whip photo gallery for the stills to see just how upside down and backwards Potter was getting! Oh, and scope the video with the super slowww-mo…BAD ASS WHIPS!
The Metal Mulisha took 2 out of 3 spots on the podium in X Games 17 Best Trick! As the General says, the real men are in the Best Trick event. Jacko Strong and Cam Sinclair are the men among men, and X Games Medalists!
Congrats to Jacko on stomping the front flip and bringing home the X Games Gold! Proud of you buddy!
Also congrats to Cam on the double flip nac…that’s right, Cam just brought double backflip combos to the table! You know your trick is crazy when you cant even do it in the new Mulisha video game haha!
Taka Higashino kinda got jipped. Not ’cause judging sucked, because I would score a front flip a couple double backflips at the top, too. But because he did one of the sickest, most technical tricks ever, and I’m not sure everyone appreciated how bad ass it really was because of all the hype around the other tricks. Taka pulled a 1 handed seat grab backflip…think about it. Good job Taka son!
Check out the X Games 17 Best Trick photo gallery for sequences of Jacko and Cam’s tricks, and of course the video is below. X Games 17 day 1 is over…1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze…not a bad start!
The General Brian Deegan had a solid showing in X Games Step Up this year. Deegan pulled off 3rd place and was going BIG! Another medal for the collection. Congrats Deegs! Todd Potter was also in Step Up, but he definitely had his mind on the next event, Best Whip. Check out the X Games 17 Step Up photo gallery for a ton of pics from X Games Step Up!
Scope this video update on Jackson Jacko Strong! Jacko gets set for X Games with a practice session into his foam pit at his compound in Australia. Jacko currently is at the Mulisha Compound and is looking solid! Check him out as he shoots for Best Trick Gold!
Following last year’s 10 team medals, the Metal Mulisha is once again bringing its full arsenal to Los Angeles for X Games 17, from July 28 -31. This year, all events will take place in and around place Staples Center, where Mulisha will look to increase its tally of more than 50 medals since 1999.
This year, Metal Mulisha will have seven athletes competing in six events, including Best Trick, Step Up, Best Whip, Rally and BMX. Among the top storylines as Mulisha prepares to continue its long run of success on action sports’ biggest stage:
“The General” Brian Deegan will look to improve on his silver medal in Super Rally with a brand-new custom Ford Fiesta, which features a black, red and white Metal Mulisha tiger shark design. The much anticipated Rally Racing events will take place in Lot 7, outside of Staples Center, on Saturday, July 30th and Sunday, July 31st. Earlier in the week, Deegan will also compete in Step up on Thursday, July 28th.
Todd Potter will have the busiest week of any Mulisha team rider, competing in Best Whip, where he aims to capture a fourth consecutive gold medal, Speed & Style for the first time in his career, and Step Up.
Looking to make a big impact on American audiences, Australia’s Jackson ‘Jacko’ Strong, has been preparing to land the first-ever front flip in competition during this year’s Best Trick event. In 2010, Mulisha rider and fellow Aussie Cam Sinclair won gold with a double backflip, an honor he’s looking to repeat in 2011. The Mulisha team will be missing another one of its family members during X17. Fan favorite and X Games 16 veteran Jeff ‘Ox’ Kargola passed away in April from injuries sustained while riding in Baja, Mexico. Ox will be honored with a tribute video prior to the Step Up competition on Thursday, July 28th. Metal Mulisha riders and fans will also be wearing memorial Ox tees, which are available at www.metalmulisha.com, benefitting the Jeff ‘Ox’ Kargola Fund.
Japanese rider and fan favorite Taka Higashino is riding for his home country this year, which experienced a devastating earthquake and tsunami in March. Taka has been active in recovery efforts for Japan relief, specifically with the local freestyle moto community. In April, Mulisha created a special Taka t-shirt to benefit the Banzai Fund and Red Cross.
X Games veteran Ronnie Faisst, bronze-medal winner in last year’s dramatic Speed & Style final, is looking to increase his medal count, shortly after breaking his femur on the Nuclear Cowboyz tour.
Brandon Dosch, gold medalist in BMX Dirt on the 2010 Dew Tour, will look to have the same success at BMX Park, which kicks off on Thursday, July 28th at the L.A. Live Event Deck.
Mulisha Nation fans can get up-close-and-personal with team riders, who will be signing autographs from Thursday through Sunday, both at the Ford Tent and X Fest in L.A. Live. The brand has also partnered with Ford for an ‘I Win! You Win! competition,‘ where a Mulisha gold medal will win one fan a Mulisha-wrapped Ford Fiesta.
