Today while riding with friends and family outside of San Felipe, Jeff “Ox” Kargola crashed while riding his dirt bike. Jeff was attended to by medical personnel on site and was transported via helicopter to the San Felipe hospital where he passed away due to his injuries.
He passed early this afternoon with his best friends Cameron Steele, Ryan Hagy, Chad Peebles, Ryan Cropley, Rich Niggemann, Mark Moss and Trigger Gumm.
“Words can’t express the emotions I am feeling. I love Jeff like a son and he was riding with all of his best friends he grew up with in San Clemente,” said Cameron Steele.
More information will be released soon on arrangements for Jeff.

This is a very sad day. I’ve watched Jeff Grow up in front of my eyes on TV and at comps over the years. His family, friends, team mates, and fans are in my prayers.
I remember watching a clip highlighting Cameron Steele and the up and coming riders from San Clemente. Cameron introduced his “groms” and Jeff stuck out to me for some reason. It may have been his larger than average build for an FMXer, maybe it was something else. But he’s always been on my radar. He’s left us too early. Rest in peace Jeff.

When I first started watching stuff like the X Games and heard about The Metal Mulisha, it was Deegs and Ox I cheered on. Jeff will never be gone. Just like all the great athletes who left us, he is in our thoughts.

Just want to stop by and say my 2 cents. I never got to meet Jeff but I have met many of the MM boys and these are legit bad ass guys. In real life, not on TV, all of the motocross and action guys are so dedicated and really work hard so they can prevent injuries and stay strong. RIP Jeff, I will miss watching you ride and I hope your family and friends are able to stay strong.

Rider: Jeff Kargola aka “OX” – “Your life is what you make it!”
OX is not just a large moto rider from the surf ghetto of San Clemente, he is an X-Games medalist and an overall Baja winner for factory Hondas effort with Johnny Campbell Racing. His real name is Jeff and he has lived through some hard knocks to keep coming back on top. Jeff’s father passed away before he was old enough to drive and his mother lost her battle with cancer when Jeff was 25. He shares this similar tragedy with Rip co-founder Cameron Steele who also lost his Mom to cancer early in life. It is not totally clear which is more true but they are either like brothers or father and son. OX has done more in 25 years than most will do in multiple lifetimes and his sponsor supports his on the edge lifestyle. Not only does OX compete at the top of the freestyle and Baja world but he is an accomplished tow in surfer and is not afraid to challenge much. For this Rip to the Tip he had to miss a major event that his sponsor Boost Mobile is hosting at Talladega with the NASCAR event there but that just shows how committed he is to earning his first “Full Pull”. Percentage of chance OX will earn the “Full Pull” = 90%. This is OX’s second Rip, in 2009 he left as part of the mutiny 6 and rode the highway after growing tired of 100 degree silt bed navigating on the 2nd to last day.

Wow it seems like we never really know how things end at the end of are life’s. But he went doing what he loved and i think thats how alot of people want to go out when there time is up. I’ve been a fan of the mulisha for a long time now and i never got the chance to meet him would of loved to. In your honor i will put your name on the bike im building.
