The filming has continued and the riding is only getting more insane for the upcoming Metal Mulisha film BLACK FRIDAY produced/directed by Powerband Films’ Jay Schweitzer, and co-produced by Brian Deegan and Ryan Hagy. Last week Jay and the team set direction to the backside of Beaumont, a city in Riverside County, California. Known to some as one of the many great places to ride Natural Terrain in Southern California, Wes Agee, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Ryan Hagy & Jimmy Hill kicked over the bikes and geared up for a epic day of riding. All the riders built up this 130 foot natural terrain hit and cranked out a list of tricks for the movie and Wes Agee throttled up and flipped it! Check out some of the Black Friday photos and expect many more updates and locations to come.

This has been a little over four years since the two most talented 135 pound fighters have faced each other in the octagon. Metal Mulisha MMA UFC Bantamweight World Champion, Dominick Cruz is more than ready to battle is out and take on Faber in this highly anticipated fight. Cruz hasn’t lost a fight since. He has reeled off eight straight victories, twice defending his bantamweight title, once in the WEC and once in the UFC. The two fighters have built something of a rivalry in recent months. But Cruz said the grudge goes back to that first fight – and more specifically, over a official MMA event poster.

Dominick Cruz

In the beginning it had nothing to do with him at all. In the very beginning, it had to do with the fact that I wasn’t even on the event poster and I was fighting him for a world title. That really got under my skin. So, my way of getting on the poster was to sign where I signed (over Faber’s picture), and it ended up pissing him off. Since then, he’s been the one calling me out. He’s done a million YouTube videos, went on like a media frenzy, and just done a bunch of YouTube videos running his mouth. After that, that’s when everything started up. That’s when I started talking because I’m not just going to let him keep running his mouth about me for no reason“.

The GeneralBrian Deegan started the 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series with a strong weekend. The 2010 Lucas Oil Driver of the Year leads the field in points after the first two rounds in the Pro 2 Unlimited Class. Deegan began Saturday with an assertive win in round one of the Pro Lite Unlimited class at the Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, AZ. Deegan held the lead throughout the race with Brandt and Stephensen battling for second and third respectively.

Deegan

Saturday’s Pro 2 Unlimited class was more of a battle, Deegan got into it with MacCachren on the last lap as they came together when Deegan made the pass three turns from the finish line. In the next turn Deegan’s truck was hit from the rear by MacCachren, causing Deegan’s truck to spin out. Deegan ultimately took his truck to the finish line in the fifth spot. After the race, MacCachren was given a black flag penalty for his collision with Deegan in turn four, costing him a 1 lap penalty.

It was an exciting race for me to be battling with a guy like MacCachren. its too bad how the day ended up, but things should be all good between us moving forward,” said Deegan.

Sunday’s Pro Lite Unlimited race started off strong for Deegan who shot off the start and led early on until he had some mechanical problems causing him to drop off the pace and nurse the truck home for an 11th place finish. Later that day in the Pro 2 Unlimited Race Deegan took the early lead of the start ahead of Saturday’s winner Bryce Menzie. Deegan led the first 17 laps this time only to suffer handling problems the last 3 laps. Deegan managed to secure a 3rd place finish and his first podium appearance in just his third career race in the Pro 2 class. For the weekend, Deegan led the most laps on Saturday and Sunday of all the drivers totaling 26 laps.

Deegan

We came in on Saturday and started the season off completely dominant in the Pro Lite, setting the pace, and winning by a large margin,” said Deegan after the weekend. “On Sunday I was on my way to do the same thing, and had some technical problems with the truck. In the end, I chose to get the truck around the track to savage points, with the end goal being the championship.

Deegan announced he would donate his winnings from the 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, “In the end we were able to raise funds for the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, it was a positive weekend,” said Deegan.

OX

Jeff “Ox” Kargola has had a great couple of weeks as he’s coming off a win at the San Felipe 250 and set direction to race him Super Lite in Round 1 & 2 for the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series in Arizona. Besides from the “shuffling” of cars on the start, OX managed to battle his way and pull up with the rest of the pack in the front. On the restart at the halfway point, Jeff “Ox” Kargola took the lead and never looked back, as he was able to keep his truck hooked up and in control to stay in front! CONGRATS to OX & 1st place podium finish.

OX

“I think I really owe this win to the General Tire Grabbers and the Method Wheels,” he said. “The combo seems to be really working perfectly out here. It’s kind of slick for everyone else, but I’m grabbing, hooking up and taking it away.”

Bean

In Pro Buggy Unlimited with the man himself Justin “Bean” Smith, a tight battled ensued at the front of the pack for much of the race. Doug Fortin held the lead for much of the race, fighting off another veteran in Jerry Whelchel as well as Justin “Bean” Smith, who won the championship in the Limited Buggy class last year. Davis was forced to pull off near the end of the race with mechanical issues and was unable to continue. Smith was able to hold on for second place in his first race since stepping up from Limited Buggy.

“I didn’t know what to expect stepping up next to these competitors, but to be on the box the first time out I’m pretty excited about it,” Smith said. “We tried to stay away from the trouble, and there was a little bit in front of us and it helped us out a little bit maybe, but I’ll take it.”

Bean

Congrats to the Metal Mulisha team for there great weekend of racing. Rounds 3 and 4 of Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing takes place in Surprise, Arizona on April 16th and 17th.

Brandon

Following Daniel Dhers and his pro approach to the BMX contest realm last week, we present Detroit-area ripper Brandon Dosch. 21-year-old Brandon won the year-end 2010 Dew Cup in BMX Dirt, and more recently, won the 2011 BMX Games in Australia. Sponsored by Metal Mulisha, Redline Bicycles, Albe’s, Arma Energy Snacks, Nike 6.0 and Alienation Components, Brandon is coming into his own as one of the top competitors in BMX park and dirt, and he’s only getting started on his path to contest domination. But he wasn’t cherry picked from the local skatepark and thrown into the pro spotlight. Instead, Brandon raced (for a long time), and when he tired of that, he made the jump into park and dirt, working really hard on his own to reach the pro level.

In the grand scheme, Brandon is part of the younger generation of BMX pro that saw what he wanted and worked his way towards that goal, without the push of sponsors or a supportive amateur series. And because of that internal drive, he’s taken the short route from unknown newcomer to respectable pro. Recently, while Brandon was on the road and headed to Woodward, he spoke with us about the workings of a BMX pro and the route he took to get there. Here’s Brandon.

When did you first consider yourself a pro in BMX?
Dosch: I think the first time I realized it was when I got signed up for the Dew Tour, and I was riding with all of the really good guys, the guys I’ve looked up to forever. It was a good feeling.

Where was that?
It was the Cleveland stop in 2007.

Did anyone push you to ride pro or was that your own decision?
It was more so a general push. I had a lot of help from my family, and Mark Flippowicz at Albe’s.

What do you think defines a pro in BMX?
BMX is initially what you make it. I would say that if you’re getting a lot of coverage in magazines, and you’re producing a lot of Web videos, and your name’s getting out there, and you’re doing contests and getting sponsors, I think that’s when you could consider yourself a professional. And when it’s your “job” as well.
