Renato "Babalu" Sobral

Renato “Babalu” Sobral defeated Robbie Lawler by unanimous decision after three hard-fought rounds in the Strikeforce “Los Angeles” main event on Wednesday at the Nokia Theater!

Babalu

Babalu gave Lawler a hard right kick to the left side of Lawler’s ribcage leaving a visible welt. The impact could be heard throughout the venue, and it clearly pissed off the former EliteXC champion.

Babalu

Lawler tried to position Babalu in striking distance but Babalu kept his distance and made every strike count! Lawler hit Babalu with a quick jab to the cut above his left eye. Babalu wiped the blood away and followed Lawler’s jab with a knee to his face.

Babalu

The fight carried all the way into the third with both fighters going back and forth jab for jab, and Babalu threw some kicks that did make some serious contact with Lawler. The Nokia Center spectators screamed and cheered “Babalu…Babalu” as the final 3rd round ended.

Babalu

The scores were 29-28 across the board, with a unanimous decision victory for Renato “Babalu” Sobral! Babalu called out a rematch with two-time Olympian Dan Henderson, a man who defeated him a decade ago in Japan. “It would be an honor to fight him again,” Sobral said.

New Metal Mulisha Fighter K.J. Noons outboxed and outbrawled Conor Heun to win his Strikeforce debut with a well-deserved and hard-fought split decision.

Noons

Within minutes of the fight Noons took on a blow from Heun, which broke his rib. That did not stop Noons as he pushed threw and landed more solid blows over the next 10 minutes with hooks and uppercuts.

KJ Noons

Heun tried mixing punches with head kicks and knees, but Noons checked many of the kicks and followed back with solid blows! Noons fight went to decision as he took the win with a score of 29-28! Congratulations to both fighters! Check out the Metal Mulisha MMA photogallery of this fight!

Metal Mulisha BMX team rider Brandon Dosch cleans up at the inaugural Red Bull Stomping Ground in Chicago, taking the overall win in the BMX Dirt contest as well as the best trick!

Brandon Dosch

In an exciting day that featured multiple swings through wildly varying weather conditions, Michigan’s Dosch bested a field of the most respected BMX dirt jumpers in the world.

The final results would be decided by a two-run format, followed by a jam session for the Chipotle Best Trick award. First place overall brought a whopping $25,000 with the Best Trick prize being free burritos for a year, so things got serious really quickly.

Brandon Dosch

Brandon DoschIt was Dosch’s day, however. From lookback, tailwhip and downside whip 360s to double whips and a 720, Brandon was as solid as a rock. To top it off, he also ruled the Best Trick jam session by being the only rider of the day to pull the massive 31ft (10m) transfer at the bottom of the course – with a tail-whip, naturally. “The contest was super awesome,” Dosch added. “My favorite part was that it was more laid-back, not as stressful as some of the big tours. I think everybody had a good time!”

Results
1. Brandon Dosch
2. Chris Doyle
3. Mike “Hucker” Clark
4. Dennis Enarson
5. Ryan Nyquist
6. Corey Bohan
7. Ryan Guettler
8. Drew Bezanson

The riders were fired up and excited to showoff for their hometown fans, because it isn’t very often that they get to perform in Temecula. The high temperatures didn’t hold any of these riders back.
