All week at X Games Brian Deegan was running strong in his factory Rockstar Ford Fiesta! His practice lap times were on par or better than the top guys, and getting faster every time as he got more comfortable with more seat time. In Deegan’s first heat he pinned it on the big jump, over clearing it and smashing up the front of the car. He still won the heat and advanced to the quarter finals, but did so without a functioning turbo. The damage to the turbo woould be too much to get the car working well enough to keep up with the top guys. He was pretty pissed, but there is not much you can do about heavy mechanical problems…there’s always next year!

I definitely saw the frustration in Deegan’s face when he found out about his turbo, and when I heard that he was DQ’d, I was devastated! But yes, there’s always next year

I think it’s pretty gay that your mechanics couldn’t fix a fucking intercooler pipe. If you weren’t gonna do fuck all vs pastrana you should have at least let Block continue.

I still don’t understand why the “Olsbergs MSE” team wouldn’t put Deegan in Foust’s car; it wasn’t like he was going to need it…
If it was a ‘rule’ or whatever – it was the freakin’ x-games!! Who cares about the rules?!
And what’s better for both TV and the sponsors? – The legend, Brian Deegan, running in someone else’s car – and beating a long term rival? Or watching the Rockstar Metal Mulisha Fiesta gettin’ wasted (in the majority of the crowd’s eyes) by the other manufacturer?
I have no doubt that Deegan will be competitive next year, but he would have won this year…easily…
