And it’s just in time for his long-awaited battle against Rich Franklin that takes place on UFC93 in Dublin, Ireland this Saturday on PPV! Deegan has been training at Dan’s training facility, Team Quest, over the last several months and the fit was perfect for the Mulisha. Please join us in welcoming Dan to the team, and make sure to tune in and watch him kick some ass this weekend!

Here’s the press release we are sending out in case you want to read more:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AND MANDITORY REDISTRIBUTION!

THE METAL MULISHA JUMPS IN MMA BAD-ASS DAN HENDERSON!

The news just filtered in straight from Brian Deegan at the Metal Mulisha Compound—Dan Henderson, MMA legend and UFC Middleweight tile front-runner, is officially on the Metal Mulisha Fight Team! We’re proud to announce the addition of MMA legend Dan Henderson to the team for 2009. The timing is perfect for Henderson’s Main Event clash with former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin at UFC 93, taking place at the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Watch it on Pay-Per-View!

Contracts, money, politics—these things don’t mean a thing when it comes to the Metal Mulisha and our athletes—they’re just a formality. It’s about friendship, brotherhood, and being a part of the most talented and well-known group in “action sports.” The Metal Mulisha’s roots in Freestyle Motocross are legendary, but they run deep in MMA as well.

Henderson and Metal Mulisha General Brian Deegan have sparked quite a bond since Deegan started working out at Dan’s training facility, Team Quest, over the last several months. Once it became apparent to Deegan that the former King of Kings Tournament Champion embodied the essence of the Metal Mulisha spirit, Brian asked him to join. Knowing that every Metal Mulisha athlete is part of a true brotherhood, Henderson accepted. Everyone involved has no doubt that this will be the beginning of a long relationship, and the beginning of a title run in the UFC’s 205 pound division.

A Southern Californian native, Dan “Hollywood” Henderson sports a record of 23 wins and 7 losses since starting his MMA career at the Brazil Open in 1997. Dan has always been known for his powerful overhand right, and his fierce takedowns. Throughout his career Henderson has bounced back and forth between 185, and 205 pounds, which is a difficult task in these days of fighters cutting 20 or more pounds to make weight. In that time he not only held both the Pride Welterweight and Middleweight belts, but he did so at the same time!

“With the addition of Dan to our family, and team of fighters, MMA fans the world over, will have no choice but to notice Metal Mulisha’s push in the sport this year.” stated Metal Mulisha MMA/Alternative Marketing Director, and Henderson teammate, Erik Apple. “This is a HUGE step in the right direction as we kick down the door, and march into the world of MMA. And believe me, there is a lot more where that came from. So stay tuned to what we have in store for this sport! We are thrilled to be involved with Dan’s effort to get a shot at that 205 pound belt once again.”

Since forming from the minds of Brian Deegan and Larry Linkogle in 1999. Metal Mulisha has been the first name in Freestyle Motocross and “action sports” teams. Now, in 2009, MMA is the next front that we intend to conquer. Dan Henderson joins our team of fighters, which includes Jason Macdonald, Mark “The Bear” Smith, Erik “Bad” Apple, Troy “Rudeboy” Mandaloniz, and Renato “Babalu” Sobral.

Check out metalmulisha.com for the newest additions to our ever-growing team of fighters and updates on each of them.

For the second week in a row, Josh Grant put in another solid performance to get on the podium! The Supercross class rookie grabbed the holeshot in the main and lead briefly before being passed by James Stewart. Grant held onto the second place position for quite a few laps, until a hard charging Chad Reed took the position. Grant settled into the third and checked out from the rest of the field. His third place finish gives him a 3 point lead over Reed in the championship standings! The Mulisha domination has now spread into the corpo racing scene. Go GRANT!

I know we say “Decade of Domination” a lot around here, but it’s for good reason. The Metal Mulisha has been kicking ass since day 1, and 10 years later we haven’t let up one bit! 2009 marks 10 Years of the Mulisha, so throughout the year we are going to post old video clips from the past decade so those of you new Mulisha Troops can get a feel for where we came from.

HUGE thanks to Chris Ackerman for lending his massive archive of old tapes and footage!

Just to give you a little perspective on how gnarly Maddo’s jump was, look at the lame jump Robbie Knievel barely pulled off the same night…lol.
