Coming into the X Games as an alternate and definitely the underdog, Josh Hansen surprised a lot of people with his riding this weekend and came through with one of the biggest wins of his career! Just to get an idea of how huge this is, we’ve heard some pretty staggering top-secret stats that X Games Moto got more TV viewers than all the outdoor motocross races will combined this year–big bikes and lites!
Hanny was training hard for this one and he earned it! Congrats, Hanny!
The General, Brian Deegan, competed in Step Up this year as well as doing the TV deal for pretty much every other moto event. He cleared a few of the heights easily, but barely tagged the bar at 30 feet, knocking him out of the competition. Check the 2 photos below…he had plenty of height, but just nicked the bar on the way down! Bummer.
Deegan said next year he wants to compete in more events rather than only doing Step Up and announcing…maybe Speed & Style and Rally Racing next? He would be the only riderfew riders who has won a Supercross, and we all know he has skills behind the wheel….
We want to give out a huge HELL YEAH to Ronnie Faisst! Did everyone see big Ron throw down a perfect flatty 360 in his FMX qualifying run? He nailed it! After a couple years of trying the trick at X Games and crashing hard numerous times, Faisst got it dialed and we’re pumped for him. Congrats, Faisst!
Todd Potter did what very few have ever done…beat Ricky Carmichael, the GOAT, at something having to do with riding dirt bikes! Not an easy task. Potter stole the show at the first ever X Games Best Whip contest, overshadowing the monster whips of Renner, Josh Grant, Mylo and RC.
The best part? You, the fans, got to decide who had the best whip! Thanks to everyone who texted their brains out for Potter…he deserved it!
Jeremy Lusk and Todd Potter were by far the most dialed riders in Best Trick last night at Staples center! Potter came out swinging with the same trick he won Bronze with last year–the look forward KOD flip–then followed it up with a huge cliffhanger flip in his second run. Not sure which trick scored better, but it doesn’t matter, both were good enough for another Bronze!
Lusk came in with one goal in mind–to stomp a double grab flip! He did just that. It may have been the first time Lusk pulled the trick to dirt, but it was so perfect it looked like just another right side up dub grab, except upside down…so smooth! Lusk took the silver behind Loza’s bike acrobatics.
