The Metal Mulisha is gunna be out at the US Open of Surfing this weekend. I know what you’re thinking, “What the Fuck? A surf contest? I thought you guys are dirt bikers!” Well, pretty much we just want a spot to check out all the T&A that flocks to Huntington Beach every year and pull some phone numbers…can you blame us? Don’t worry, though, if you can’t make it out there we’ll have a shit load of photos to make you wish you were there! Fluffer and Garland will be riding FMX Demos a couple times a day from Friday-Sunday, so don’t miss it.
A bunch of the guys will be signing autographs at these times:
5 out of the top 10 riders at the last Dew Tour stop in Cleveland were Metal Mulisha riders! This is what went down: FMX and high winds do not mix. If you were at the Cleveland Dew Tour this past weekend, you would have experienced this first hand. The competition schedule was thrown out the window and the riders played the waiting game. Prelims, which were supposed to be held Thursday afternoon, did not happen until Saturday night at 11pm. We were there till 2am.
The late night competition and high winds didn’t effect the guys. Taka came out swinging and qualified second behind Nate Adams. Twitch made up for not making the finals in Baltimore by qualifying third. Lusk, Faisst, and Potter held down three of the four spots in the second qualifying round. If the domination of the Mulisha isn’t the clear to you, 50% of the 10 man final were Mulisha riders.
The finals never happened on Sunday due to extremely high winds. Having the guys putting in the runs they are capable of would have been dangerous and stupid. The qualifying results would count as the placing for the finals. The Cleveland fans didn’t go home empty handed as the 10 rider field put on a no-pressure demo for the packed Cleveland crowd.
Go pick up the latest issue of ESPN the Mag, on stands now (with David Beckham on the cover), to see this spread of Todd Potter throwing yet another huge KOD flip at Deegan’s house.
“This event is worse then Baltimore. Its rained the past 2 days and the guys only got 1 practice session in Wednesday night at 9pm. Lots of sitting, drinking, and guitar hero. Everything is canceled today again. Gonna do prelims tomorrow and finals Sunday. Haven’t taken any photos. Haha.”
Since Chris hasn’t shot any photos from Cleveland yet, get your fix with the latest practice photos of Potter and Lusk at tedescophoto.com…some crazy KOD flips going on!
Dew Tour is this weekend and Twitch, Faisst, Lusk, Potter and Taka are all vying for qualifying and podium spots…and those are just the Mulisha riders! It was a close call over the weekend when Deegan performed the Shark-Jump-O’-Death! As you can see from the photo, the 30ft Great White narrowly missed eating Brian out of mid-air! Just kidding.
Deegan came through for the Live MTV Scarred special and flipped the ramp-to-ramp setup with a shark tank in the middle, no problem. Check out video of the jump on the Scarred site.
